Terms of Use
Last updated: 10 April 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the MOTQuickCheck Chrome extension, the motquickcheck.uk website, and any associated backend services (together, the “Service”). The Service is operated by Dmytro Zakharchuk, trading as MOTQuickCheck (the “Operator”, “we”, “us”), a UK-based sole trader. By installing the extension, signing in, or using any part of the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. What the Service does
MOTQuickCheck is a browser extension that reads publicly available vehicle listings on AutoTrader and surfaces MOT history information retrieved from the UK Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). Where enabled, the Service may also generate short natural-language summaries of an MOT record using an AI model.
2. Informational purposes only
MOT data shown through the Service is derived from DVSA records and from content already present on the listing page you are viewing. MOTQuickCheck does not provide vehicle advice, mechanical advice, legal advice, or financial advice, and the Service must not be treated as a substitute for any of these. MOT status is a snapshot and can change between scans, between visits, and between the date shown and the date you act on it. You are responsible for any decision you make, including the decision to contact, visit, inspect, or purchase a vehicle.
3. Accounts and access
Some features of the Service require a MOTQuickCheck account. You sign in through Google using your existing Google account. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure. You must not share your account or let anyone else use the Service under your identity. We may suspend or terminate an account that is being abused, shared, automated against our intended use, or used in breach of these Terms.
4. Free trial and free tier
When you sign in for the first time, your account may include a trial period during which you have access to features that would otherwise require a paid subscription. The trial is granted by the product itself; it is not a separate offer that must be purchased. After the trial ends, your account returns to a free tier with a limited daily allowance of new listing scans. Previously scanned listings remain viewable under fair-use limits.
5. Paid subscription
A paid subscription unlocks expanded scanning, search-page scanning, and other features described on the pricing page. The subscription is billed monthly in advance. Payments are handled by Paddle.com Market Limited (“Paddle”), who acts as the merchant of record for MOTQuickCheck and is responsible for transaction processing, invoicing, and any applicable sales tax or VAT. Your contract for payment is with Paddle; your contract for use of the Service is with us under these Terms.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from the billing portal accessible through the extension popup. When you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of the paid period and then returns to the free tier.
6. Pricing changes
We may change subscription pricing. If we change the price of your current subscription, we will give you reasonable prior notice by email or in-product message. If you do not want to accept a new price, you may cancel before it takes effect.
7. Refunds
Paid subscriptions are generally non-refundable. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at hello@motquickcheck.uk and we will review your case in good faith. Statutory rights under applicable UK consumer law are not affected by this clause.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- scrape, mirror, or resell MOT data or listing data in bulk;
- circumvent any usage limit, rate limit, or paywall;
- interfere with AutoTrader’s own terms or with DVSA’s terms;
- probe, scan, or attempt to exploit any part of the Service’s infrastructure;
- use automated clients or bots against the Service;
- identify, contact, or harass another individual based on vehicle data;
- use the Service in any way that is unlawful under UK law.
9. Fair use
MOTQuickCheck operates under a fair-use model. We do not promise unlimited capacity, and we may apply reasonable limits on the number of scans, AI summaries, or API calls an individual account can make over a given period. If we apply new limits we will make them visible in the extension and/or on this site.
10. Third-party data and services
The Service reads content from third-party websites (including AutoTrader) and calls third-party APIs and services (including the DVSA MOT history service, an AI provider for summary generation, Google for authentication, and Paddle for billing). We do not control those third parties, and their own terms and privacy practices apply to your interaction with them.
11. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted operation. We do not warrant that MOT data returned by the DVSA, summaries generated by AI, or any other content shown in the extension is complete, current, or free of error.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special loss arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, including loss of profit, loss of data, or loss of goodwill. Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you have paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited under UK law.
13. Changes to the Service
We may add, change, remove, or suspend features of the Service at any time. We will make reasonable effort to communicate material changes in advance.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, give in-product or email notice. If you continue to use the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction to hear any dispute arising out of or in connection with them, except where your local consumer law gives you a non-waivable right to bring a claim in your country of residence.
